Why We Started Imani Market: Faith, Community, and African Groceries in Cedar Rapids
Imani Market was born from a simple observation: families in Cedar Rapids and Eastern Iowa who wanted authentic African foods, spices, and ingredients had to drive hours or order from far away. We asked ourselves: why shouldn’t our community have a place that feels like home?
Faith in the name
"Imani" means "faith" in Swahili. For us, it’s a promise—faith in quality, in community, and in the idea that everyone deserves access to the foods and products that connect them to their heritage. We built Imani Market on that belief.
More than a store
We’re not just a grocery store. We’re a place where you can find fufu flour, palm oil, jollof rice ingredients, African beauty products, and clothing—all in one spot. We’re here for the African diaspora, for anyone exploring African cuisines, and for anyone who values authenticity and connection.
Whether you shop in person at 167 Jacolyn Dr NW in Cedar Rapids or order online for delivery across Eastern Iowa, we’re committed to being your trusted source. Thank you for being part of our story.
